Research Diary

Looking Back and Ahead

We’ve been a little quiet over the past few months, but we’re happy to say that this is about to change. After the Christmas holidays, we’ll be returning in 2026 with renewed energy and exciting news.

Please mark your calendars: in early March 2026, we’ll be opening the doors of the legendary Villa Louvigny for an exclusive, temporary immersive experience. Join us for a sensory dive into the universe of the iconic radio station in its former headquarters: Radio Luxembourg – Ghosts of the Villa.

And that’s not all. We’ll also be launching a podcast series, developed with students from the Master’s programme in Digital and Public History, offering a fresh perspective on the history of Radio Luxembourg – especially for those who didn’t live it firsthand. In addition, a new version of the website with exciting new features will go live in 2026. More on that soon…

As a New Year’s resolution, we’ll also be checking in more regularly to keep you up to date!

Behind the Scenes

Over the past few months, we’ve been deeply immersed in research, production and creation: exploring archives, listening to hundreds of hours of audio, digitising thousands of documents and developing the podcast series, now in post-production. Alongside this intense period of work, I have also had the pleasure of presenting my research and engaging in inspiring exchanges with Radio Luxembourg communities in Luxembourg and abroad.

Most of our efforts have been focused on shaping the immersive experience – from concept and sound design to scenography and technical implementation on the Unity platform, in collaboration with our partners in Berlin. A few final touches remain, and we can’t wait to welcome you to Villa Louvigny very soon.

Thank You

I would like to take this opportunity to warmly thank all the dedicated team members involved in this ambitious project. Your passion, commitment and generosity have made this possible. This has truly been a massive collaborative effort.

My heartfelt thanks as well to everyone who has contributed by sharing their stories, archives, time and support in so many ways. We take the responsibility of this heritage work very seriously, and we sincerely hope to do justice to the legacy of Radio Luxembourg.

With deep gratitude, I wish you all a restful holiday period and a very happy New Year.

See you soon,

Dominique
