Luxembourg Listener

1938

In response to the British Post Office forbidding all transmission of foreign radio broadcasts by telephone, Radio Luxembourg got creative.

The station hired a De Havilland Dragon airplane christened ‘The Luxembourg Listener’ to make a twice weekly return trip from Croydon to Esch-sur-Alzette carrying taped programmes, records and passengers.

This made it possible to continue recording programs at the London studios.
